  I have been asked about Machon Shlomo. First I'd like to address the myth. Until you get that out of the way, you can't have a normal conversation about the place. The Myth The myth is that it's the "Ivy League yeshiva" for the "best and the brightest." Those words are from their website, so we see the origin of the myth. Here's the full quote: "In a little over ten years, Machon Shlomo became known as the 'Ivy League' yeshiva, a place for the best and brightest to come and rediscover the treasures of their millennia-old heritage." We are so conditioned from public school to revere the Ivies, that as soon as we hear the word Ivy we leap without looking. Moodus vs. Machon Shlomo

Moodus vs. Machon Shlomo Facility Shown below is the main building for the Torah Institute in Moodus, Connecticut.  Originally, the Grand View Hotel, the property and numerous buildings were acquired by the Institute which operated from about 1982 to about 2002. It served as a recruitment vehicle for Machon Shlomo, a school for baalei teshuvah men in Israel. It is one of numerous buildings on the property as we will show. Compare this to the only building for Machon Shlomo. Actually, the school utilized only a part of this building, as numerous apartments were occupied by families that had nothing to do with the school. This picture was taken in 2022 as forty years later, Machon Shlomo is in the same location as when it was founded in 1982. Beis Midrash Here is the building that housed the beis midrash for the Moodus camp.
